Zondagsvriend
Zondagsvriend is a magazine that appeared weekly. It leaned towards ‘De Gazet van Antwerpen’. One could think of it as a weekend supplement avant la lettre. The magazine first appeared in 1930 and disappeared from the journalism market in the late 1960s.
The content was intended for a wide audience and was in tune with the social scene, both nationally and internationally. Some of the topics: an article on modern Jerusalem, floods in France, the city of Tienen, Korean people, the African city of Addis Ababa, the Iron Pilgrimage, the Italian Tyrol, gliding, a dung heap as a fuel gas plant (even then, the use of alternative energy), the commune of Apples, the Saint Martin cave, fashion, cycling, visiting the Borneo jungle, the commune of Hever, the Chinese civil war, own room for brother and sister, … Each issue contains lots of testimonial photos.
An ideal setting to dwell in the past.
