Dit is een artikel over de confrontatie met het Oostblok in West-Berlijn, uit het Vlaamse tijdschrift ‘De Post’. Het tijdschrift behandelde op een voortreffelijke manier maatschappelijke maar ook internationaal politieke thema’s. In dit artikel gaat het over de spanningen tussen het Westen en het Oostblok. Berlijn was de kanarie van deze spanningen omdat de stad opgedeeld was in vier delen elk schatplichtig aan een bepaalde politieke stroming.\u00a0

Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog bleven ideologische tegenpolen Sovjet-Unie en de Verenigde Staten over als twee grootmachten in de wereld. De tegenstellingen leidden tot de Koude Oorlog,<\/em> een botsing tussen het Amerikaanse kapitalisme en het Russische communisme. \u00a0Wat zijn de oorzaken, hoe is het verloop, gevolgen. de NAVO, de Koreaoorlog, Wat is de betekenis van het Warschaupact, de Berlijnse Muur, de Cubacrisis, … Tijdens de naoorlogse decennia waren er regelmatig spanningen tussen het Westen en het Oostblok. Deze spanningen katalyseerden zich in Berlijn. De DDR bouwde de Berlijnse Muur om West-Berlijn heen, zodat haar inwoners niet meer zo eenvoudig via West-Berlijn<\/em> naar het kapitalistische westen konden vluchten. De Berlijnse muur was een 45,3 kilometer lange muur die West- en Oost-Berlijn van 13 augustus 1961 tot 9 november 1989 scheidde. Het is een van de bekendste symbolen van de Koude Oorlog, het IJzeren Gordijn en de Duitse tweedeling.
Dit artikel\u00a0 is het verslag van \u00e9\u00e9n van de vele conflicten tussen Oost en West. Walter Ulbricht, de Oost-Duitse partijleider, uitte zijn ongenoegen over de bijeenkomst van de Christendemocratische Partij in Berlijn.
